the one thing book review

In this post I’m sharing The One Thing book review. Just finished reading it about a week ago.

Been hearing a lot of buzz about the book throughout the year, and finally picked it up when I was in Austin. Saw it in the airport, and it was the Best Seller – all over the book store.

A lot of people have been asking me about some book recommendations on productivity. So there you go.

The very first thing that I’d like to mention about the book is I really liked the way it’s structured. Very simple to read, and it’s also great for people that re visual, because the book includes different graphics to explain the concepts of The One Thing. So if you’re a fast reader, you can go through the book in about a week.

My biggest takeaway from book is the Focusing Question. I believe that if you implement it into your life and business every single day, you WILL be more productive in every area of your life. Here’s the focusing question: “What’s the ONE Thing I can do such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?“. Is it powerful or what? In the video below I talk about it in a little bit more details on how to tailor it to literally anything!

Another huge thing that I got out of the book is the Time Blocking strategy. I’m sharing this with my
coaching clients, and their productivity is through the roof! How do you do that? First of all, you need to get a calendar. I recommend to print out a monthly calendar in which you can put the ONE thing that you have to focus on on that specific day. For example, you may have to create an ebook for your blog, so you put that one thing on your calendar (that’s what I did 2 days ago, and got completely focused, and got it done).

One really really amazing that that I wanted to share with you is the goal setting process. For most people it might be a little bit challenging to have ALL their goals set. But in this book Gary Keller and Jay Papasan broke it down incredibly well. If you do this, you WILL be on track to hitting your goals – both long term and short term. The picture of the process is on the right.

In the video below I share these and more tips in a lot more details, as well as ONE thing that I disagree with (there’s always one thing, huh?). If you’re curious what that is, watch the video, and let me know in the comments what you think! Would LOVE to know your opinion!

  1. Jelena – thanks for the information about this book. I will definitely add it to my list. You are right – people forget about the personal development and lead generation aspects when promoting their business. Good stuff – look forward to reading it!
